First Post - I’m Just Going to Start My Own Business
My name is Eric. I teach composition and business courses adjunct (part-time) at universities in the Louisville area.
Over the last year, I’ve managed to cram a teaching schedule together that I really enjoy. However, I’ve not had the best luck with getting additional jobs to make ends meet super well. What I’ve learned that it boils down to is I’m either too overqualified for a lot of jobs or not available enough for those who can look past my credentials. I really like teaching composition and business courses, and I don’t want to give that up for an inflexible 8-5, so I’m just going to start my own business.
I know, it’s groundbreaking.
I’m going to teach new business owners and entrepreneurs business writing and technology together—in tandem–to help them launch and manage their businesses more efficiently.
I’ll target new entrepreneurs and business owners, starting with those in the Louisville area.
I know there will be challenges (will I even be able to fit clients around my teaching schedule? We’ll see!) but I’m up for the challenge. I mean I’ve tried just about everything else.
More later, probably early 2026 after the holiday break. I still have a bit of grading to do.
The photo was taken early in the semester when I started teaching two college writing workshop courses at Spalding University this fall.
