Over the weekend, I went to Chicago for some street photography. I missed Derby in Louisville completely. Chicago was nice, though. I’ll have to go back to get some more street photography there soon. The Navy Pier also opened back up for the first time this weekend since it shutdown last year at the beginning of the pandemic. Overall, I had a nice trip. Unfortunately, my roommate didn’t because he drove. The parking is still rough, but that’s Downtown Chicago.
That being said, I love the night life in Chicago. There’s almost always someone interesting to photograph and the city has enough tall buildings for interesting lighting and cool urban shots.
I started simple in the streets Friday night and the next morning.
The Navy Pier
The Navy Pier was pretty crowded, but I’m not sure how crowded it usually is since it was my first time there. As you can see, they were still enforcing face masks, or at least trying to. The weather just happened to work out for me, too. I had lunch at Harry Caray’s Tavern.

You have noticed that I’m posting my photos on Flickr now. It’s a much more enjoyable experience than relying on WordPress’s media upload. In addition, my photos don’t lose as much quality on there, either. I think I’ll post more blogs like this, because it’s easy and I’m still super busy with my MBA. I’m getting back into the swing of photography this year after starting it up in 2020, only to have to shut down because of the pandemic. As a result, I’m a little bitter, but there are people who had it way worse than me. This year though, I have to stick with it.
Before I went to Chicago, I posted about how I’m getting back into photography in 2021. I am doing this for a few reasons, which I’ll get into some other time.
Let me know how your week is going in the comments! Feel free to critique my photos; I’m used to brutal workshops in the literary fiction world, so I think I can handle it in my photography, too. Also, do you think I can get away with blogging more about my photography like this?
