I Went To the Highlands Fest In Louisville

Last weekend was the Highlands Fest in Louisville, KY.

I’ve never been to this particular festival before, so I met a friend after work and we went. It was mostly a giant cluster of people walking around with their dog leashes in one hand and their beer in the other. There were also live bands. Lepolion Effect was probably the best band I’ve heard live in a while, so hats off to them for some great covers.

After the beer, my friend and I went to get some sushi at my favorite restaurant in Louisville, Dragon King’s Daughter, then we went back to the crowd and I worked on my photography skills. I got some shots of the band and of the crowd.

Other than the music, the beer, a few interesting booths, there wasn’t much else to write about.

It’s not like I got wasted and ended up dancing on a dance floor or anything. (That actually happened the weekend before, during the Louisville Zombie Walk, which had a lot more booths and interesting costumes, but I didn’t get any decent photos and not much else happened in between the bad photos and the dance floor.) I wasn’t sure how to work all of this into an interesting blog post. I procrastinated and didn’t get around to writing the post until today, after getting back from hanging out with the same friend at a coffee shop for a few hours. I didn’t get too many ideas about the blog post specifically, but I know I need to post something because I have a blog to run here.

I do realize, however, that I need to update my banner and home page photo because the one I use now is way to grainy and ugly on my Samsung Galaxy Tab A. Oh yeah, I bought a new tablet because I needed something portable for working on my blog posts when I’m out and about at events, or more specifically, out at coffee shops after going to events in Louisville and writing something about them.

I suppose I’ve been going to events and writing about my experiences at them for a while now.

Maybe I should start specializing in local event blogging? I wonder if I could make money doing that? I’m still on the hunt for a way to make money that I’d enjoy. That sounds like something I could do. I’m going to go think about this for a week and type up a business plan until I think of something else.

Leave me a comment below and let me know if that sounds like a good idea. Either way, I’ll send far too long over thinking it and working it out, so I suppose I could add it to my list of things I do on my home page.

Blog post done.

If you talk to the businesses that hold these events maybe you could at least get free admission for your blogposts.
